If you have tried to compare tech bootcamp prices in Nigeria, you know the problem: some providers publish naira prices, some publish dollar prices, some hide the fee behind a form or a sales call, and almost none of them say what is actually included. This guide puts every price we could verify on 30 September 2026 in one table, with the source, so you can compare like with like.

Two rules for how this page is written. First, every figure is dated and comes from the provider's own public pages on the date shown; if a provider does not publish a price, we say "not published" rather than guess. Second, Mindgrid Academy is included in the same table on the same terms as everyone else. We would rather you choose us with the full picture than choose us because we hid the alternatives.

For comparison, a subscription to a global platform such as Coursera Plus is roughly ₦39,000–₦45,000 per month at the time of writing, which over a six-month learning period is comparable to a self-paced certification course but without live teaching, grading by a person or a locally recognised certificate.

What the price actually buys you

A price on its own tells you very little. The same ₦300,000 can buy a live, small-group course with recorded sessions and personal feedback, or a large webinar with a PDF at the end. Before comparing figures, compare these:

Who teaches, and are they still practising? A working engineer who teaches one module they do every day is a different product from a full-time instructor who left the industry years ago. At Mindgrid, tutors are working professionals who are interviewed and approved before they teach; you can see who they are on the tutors page.

Is it live, recorded, or both? Live teaching is where questions get answered; recordings are what let you keep up when life happens. Mindgrid's live classes run on Google Meet and are recorded automatically, with the recording appearing in your dashboard after the session.

What will you have built? Ask for the project list. If the answer is vague, the portfolio will be too.

Is the certificate verifiable? A certificate an employer cannot check is a nice PDF. Mindgrid certificates carry a unique ID and a QR code that resolve at mindgrid.academy/academy/verify-certificate.

The hidden costs of learning tech in Nigeria

The course fee is rarely the whole bill. Budget for these honestly:

CostRealistic rangeHow to reduce it
A working laptopVaries widely; a used machine with 8GB RAM and an SSD is the practical minimum for most tracksBuy used from a trusted seller; avoid 4GB machines for anything beyond basic tracks
DataDepends on your provider and how much video you streamDownload recordings on Wi-Fi where you can; audio-only for revision; ask your provider about data-light options
PowerCharging and running a laptop through outagesA power bank that can charge a laptop, or a small inverter, pays for itself in a month of missed classes avoided
Time8–12 hours a week for 2–3 months, plus portfolio time afterwardsNothing reduces this; plan for it instead — see our guide to learning while working full-time
Vendor certification examsPriced in dollars by AWS, ISTQB, CompTIA and others; check current feesSit them after you are earning, not before
Job-search timeTypically 2–4 months after finishingStart applying before the course ends; use the resume and interview module

How to pay less without getting less

  • Apply for a scholarship. Mindgrid awards 100%, 50%, 20% or 10% of cohort tuition every cohort, decided on the strength of your application; applying is free and takes minutes, and decisions come within 7 days. Other providers also run scholarships — our tech scholarships in Nigeria guide lists what we could verify.
  • Buy modules, not the whole course. Mindgrid cohort modules can be bought individually from ₦20,000, which lets you start with the one module you need most and add others as you go.
  • Start self-paced, then upgrade. A ₦50,000 self-paced certification gives you a foundation and a verifiable certificate; if you then want the live cohort you go in with confidence and a clearer idea of which modules you actually need. Here is exactly what the ₦50,000 track includes.
  • Use the free programmes for what they are good at. ALX and HNG are excellent for discipline and fundamentals. Treat them as step one, not the whole journey; see what to do after ALX or HNG.
  • Ask your employer. Many Nigerian companies will pay for training that maps to a business need, especially data, cybersecurity and cloud. Mindgrid has business training packages for organisations if you would rather HR handled it.

A worked example: three budgets

Budget: ₦0. Apply to ALX or HNG, and to a Mindgrid scholarship at the same time. If the scholarship comes through at 100%, take the cohort. If not, do the free programme and use the Mindgrid Vibe Coding self-paced track while it is free (until 3 October 2026) to get a feel for a structured course.

Budget: ₦50,000–₦100,000. One Mindgrid self-paced certification (₦50,000 until 5 November 2026), plus a power bank. Finish the six graded projects, pass the exam, and you have a verifiable certificate and a portfolio for less than the price of most phones.

Budget: ₦300,000–₦500,000. A live Mindgrid cohort in the track you want, applied for now so you get the admissions decision within 7 days and a seat in the 2 November 2026 cohort. Apply for a partial scholarship as well; a 20% or 50% award on a ₦400,000 course is a meaningful saving.

Our disclosure

Mindgrid Academy is a paid training provider, and this table includes our competitors' prices because we think you should see them. If you find a price on this page that is out of date, tell us and we will correct it and update the date at the top of the article.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average cost of a tech bootcamp in Nigeria?

There is no meaningful average because formats differ so much. As of 30 Sept 2026, published prices run from free (ALX, HNG) through ₦45,000–₦100,000 for short self-paced certifications, ₦189,000–₦500,000 for most live cohort programmes, to ₦1,000,000 for a three-month in-person programme. Dollar-priced providers ($290–$500) land in the middle of that range at current exchange rates.

Is a ₦1,000,000 bootcamp better than a ₦300,000 one?

Not automatically. Price reflects format (in-person classrooms cost more to run), duration, class size and brand as much as teaching quality. Judge on who teaches, what you will have built by the end, whether classes are recorded, and whether the certificate can be verified, then compare price.

Can I pay for a tech bootcamp in instalments in Nigeria?

Some providers offer monthly plans (AltSchool lists $30/month, for example). At Mindgrid you can buy cohort modules individually from ₦20,000 rather than paying the full course fee upfront, and scholarships of up to 100% are available on cohort courses. Always ask what happens to your access if you miss an instalment.

Are free bootcamps like ALX and HNG worth it?

Yes, for the right person: they are free, well known and demanding. The cost is time and competition — intake is selective, cohorts are large, and support is thin, so many people finish without a portfolio or a job. Our guide on what to do after ALX or HNG covers how to turn free training into a paid role.

Why do some Nigerian bootcamps not publish prices?

Usually because pricing is negotiated, varies by intake, or the provider prefers to sell on a call. It is not necessarily a red flag, but you should get the full fee, the payment schedule and the refund terms in writing before paying anything.

Does Mindgrid charge to apply?

No. Applying for admission to a Mindgrid cohort course is free, and admissions replies within 7 days. Scholarship applications are also free. You pay only when you enrol or accept an admission letter.
