MINDGRID

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy is a plain-language summary of our current data practices and is subject to review by legal counsel. It may be updated as our services and applicable law evolve.

1. Who we are

Mindgrid Academy (operated by Mindgrid Technologies, “Mindgrid”, “we”, “us”) is a Nigerian education-technology platform offering courses, internships, mentorship, and certificates. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use our websites and services, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and related regulations.

2. Data we collect

We collect the information you provide directly, including:

  • Account details — name, email address, and password (stored hashed).
  • Profile and application details — education, skills, work history, and documents you submit when applying for courses, internships, or to become a tutor or mentor.
  • Learning records — enrolments, progress, assessments, and certificates earned.
  • Payment records — transaction references and payout details. Card details are processed by our payment provider (e.g. Paystack) and are not stored on our servers.
  • Communications — messages you send to support, tutors, or mentors through the platform.

We also collect limited technical data automatically (such as device type, browser, and usage logs) to keep the platform secure and improve it.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account and deliver courses, internships, and mentorship sessions.
  • To process payments to us and payouts to tutors and mentors.
  • To issue and publicly verify certificates (certificate verification shows only the details printed on the certificate).
  • To send service emails such as verification links, receipts, and important updates.
  • To prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us run the platform (payment processing, email delivery, video sessions, hosting), with tutors or mentors you choose to engage (limited to what they need to deliver the session or course), and with authorities where the law requires it.

5. Security and retention

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your data. We keep personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your rights

Under the NDPA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

7. Children

Our services are intended for users aged 16 and above. If we learn that we hold data about a younger child without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

8. Changes and contact

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. For questions about this policy or your data, reach us through the contact page.
