IELTS Academic

The English test most UK, Canadian, Australian and European universities and visa routes ask Nigerian applicants for.

Who takes it in Nigeria

Nigerians applying for postgraduate study abroad, skilled-worker and study visas, professional registration (nursing, medicine, engineering) and some international scholarships. Most applicants need an overall band of 6.5 to 7.5, often with a minimum in each section.

Digital SAT

The admissions test most US universities, and a growing number of Canadian and European ones, consider alongside your WAEC results.

Who takes it in Nigeria

Nigerian secondary-school students and recent graduates applying to undergraduate programmes abroad, especially in the United States, and to scholarships that ask for a standardised score. Scores are also used by some Nigerian private universities.

TOEFL iBT

The English test preferred by many US and Canadian universities and accepted widely elsewhere.

How it works

From diagnostic to test day

  1. Pick your exam and format

Read the exam page, check your target score, and choose the live cohort or the self-paced course.

  2. Diagnostic in week one

A timed, section-by-section diagnostic sets your baseline so the tutor knows where the marks are.

  3. Study the syllabus

Section strategy, vocabulary and grammar, then full-length mocks with marked writing and scored speaking.

  4. Register and sit the exam

You book the real test on the official site. We tell you when you are ready and what to expect on the day.

Speaking practice with a mentor

The IELTS interview and the TOEFL speaking tasks reward practice out loud with someone who knows the marking. Mentors on the Mindgrid marketplace can be tagged for IELTS or TOEFL speaking; you book a 30, 60 or 90-minute session at the mentor's own rate, separately from the course.

Practice Centre

Every exam has a free sample test, scored on the official scale with an explanation for every question. Full mocks and drills are available on their own, without a course. The Practice Centre pass, for timed practice on its own, is ₦7,500 / 30 days for IELTS, SAT and TOEFL, and ₦2,500 / 30 days for JAMB, WAEC and Post-UTME. Every item is original and reviewed by a person before it is published.

Plain terms

What the course is, and what it is not

We prepare; you register

Booking the exam, paying the exam fee and choosing a centre all happen on the official site of the exam board.

No leaked questions

Nothing is copied from the boards. Our tutors and partners write every item, and a person reviews it before students see it.

No guaranteed score

A band or score depends on where you start and how much you practise. We give you a diagnostic, a plan and honest feedback.
