Mindgrid Academy's coding bootcamp scholarship covers part or all of the tuition for a live cohort course, from Frontend Engineering to AI/ML, Cybersecurity and Product Management. It is free to apply, there is no exam, and you hear back by email within 7 days. Awards are decided on financial need and motivation, not on grades.

Who it is for
A coding bootcamp scholarship for people who cannot pay full tuition yet
Cohort tuition runs from ₦200,000 to ₦500,000 depending on the track. For a lot of capable people in Nigeria that number is the only thing between them and a tech career. The scholarship exists to remove it for applicants who can show two things: a real financial need, and a clear reason for wanting this particular course.

Award tiers
Full and partial scholarships, decided per application
An award is a percentage off the full cohort tuition. Some applicants receive a full 100% scholarship; most receive a partial award and pay the rest. The percentage is set by the reviewer for each application, based on financial need first and motivation second. It is not a lottery and it is not first-come-first-served, although the budget for a cohort does run down as it is awarded.
The award is tied to the course you applied for and to the November 2026 cohort. It is valid for 30 days from the award email and is applied automatically when you pay the balance.
Worked example
You apply for Backend Engineering (₦400,000) and are awarded 60%. Your award email arrives within 7 days. You pay ₦160,000 within 30 days and your seat in the cohort is confirmed. At 100%, you pay nothing.

Eligibility
Which courses a scholarship covers
Scholarships are for live cohort courses only. Every cohort track below runs on Google Meet with a vetted working professional as tutor, is recorded automatically, and ends with an “AI in your track” module and a “Prepare Your Resume & Ace the Interview” module. Self-paced courses cost ₦50,000 and are not eligible; you enrol in them directly.

You can apply if
- You are applying for one of the live cohort tracks above.
- You can attend live classes online and have somewhere to study, even if power and data are unreliable (classes are recorded).
- You can explain, honestly, why you cannot pay full tuition right now.
- You are at any level: Novice, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. Your level decides your placement, not your award.
A scholarship does not cover
- Self-paced courses (₦50,000) or partner-taught marketplace courses.
- Academy for Business programmes bought by an organisation.
- A second course. One award covers one cohort course.
- Devices, data or a laptop. The award is a discount on tuition only.
What reviewers look for
How to write a scholarship application that gets funded
The form has four written answers and a short video. Reviewers read and watch all of it. These are the things that separate a funded application from a polite rejection.
Be specific about need
“I cannot afford it” is a conclusion. Reviewers need the situation: what you earn or do not earn, who depends on you, what you have already tried. Specific beats dramatic.
Name a concrete goal
Not “get into tech”. Name the role, the kind of company, and when. “A junior QA role at a fintech by Q3 2027” tells us you have thought about the road, not just the door.
Show what you did already
Free tutorials finished, a small project, a certificate from anywhere, a part-time job you took to save up. Evidence that you follow through matters more than how far you got.
Pick the right course, honestly
Choose the track that fits your goal, and set your experience level truthfully. Placement in the wrong cohort hurts you, and the level never lowers the award.
The 60–90 second video pitch
RequiredRecord it on your phone. Nobody is grading production quality; they are listening for conviction. Say three things: (1) your name and where you are, (2) which course you chose and why that one, (3)what you will build or apply for in the first 90 days after the course. Upload it to Google Drive, YouTube (unlisted) or a Zoom cloud recording, set it to “anyone with the link”, and open the link in a private window before pasting it. If it asks for permission, we cannot watch it.
